Studying
Study flashcard sets, take tests, review a feed, and track your performance.
Flashcard sets contain terms and definitions. Create one at /set/new, then find your sets under Activities.
Study a set
- Open Review from Activities. Choose a subject or set if you want to narrow the queue, then Start review.
- Try to recall the answer before revealing it.
- Grade your recall honestly. The next review time changes with your rating:
- Again: you did not remember the answer.
- Hard: you remembered it with difficulty.
- Good: you remembered it without much effort.
- Easy: the answer was immediate and easy.
Choose a format
- Flashcards gives you a classic pass over a set.
- Memory uses pairs for terms that are hard to retain.
- Match asks you to match terms with definitions.
- Guess the term gives you a definition and hints, then asks you to choose the term.
- Sentence Scramble asks you to rebuild a definition from its pieces.
- Mixed study combines several sets in one sitting and uses a format each term can support.
- Tests build an assessed attempt from your chosen material.
Why nothing is due
The queue depends on the next review times, your subject or set filters, and your daily new-card and review limits. Review shows how many cards are left today. Check the filters or open Study settings to change the limits. Start cram lets you practise without changing the review schedule or counting toward your daily goal.
Take a test
- Open Tests, then build a test.
- Choose notes or sets as sources, question types, the number of questions and an optional time limit. Choose Build test.
- When the test is ready, choose Start test.
- Answer the questions and choose Hand in. You cannot change answers after handing in.
After you finish, you receive marks and a review for each question. You can chat about answers you got wrong. WorkRoad stores your attempts. It also holds the timer and your progress on the server, so reloading during a test does not lose the attempt.
AI marks short answers when you submit. On a test WorkRoad's AI wrote, that is part of the test's AI use.
Use the feed
Opening the feed is free. When you reach the end of the deck, or choose More cards, WorkRoad's AI writes more cards from your notes, which counts as one AI use.
The feed at /activities/feed is a vertical deck made from your own content. Each card contains one quiz, flashcard, or fill-in-the-blank interaction and names its source. Your answers update the same review schedule used by the set activities.
Check performance
Open /activities/performance to see login and activity streaks, a review heatmap, and progression for each subject.
Review scheduling
Every study format feeds the same FSRS spaced-repetition schedule. What you see next depends on how you did.
FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is an open algorithm by Open Spaced Repetition. WorkRoad runs it through the MIT-licensed ts-fsrs library. Its licence notice is in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt.
