Credits

AI work is metered in credits. This includes Copilot turns, generations, transcription, AI marking, and study-room voice. Starter has no monthly AI allowance. Learner includes 2,000 credits each month, and Scholar includes 5,000.

Monthly and extra credits

Your plan provides a monthly pool that refills when your plan resets. Unused monthly credits roll into the next month up to a cap above your monthly allowance. They do not accumulate without limit.

You can buy extra credits in addition to the monthly pool. WorkRoad spends the monthly pool first. When that runs out, it uses your extra credits.

Reservations and charges

Before a job starts, WorkRoad reserves an estimated credit cost. A job cannot start if there are not enough credits to cover that reservation. The reservation is a ceiling, not the final charge.

When the job finishes, the reservation settles to the real cost of the work the model actually did, and WorkRoad releases the difference. A failed job charges only the work that completed before the failure and releases the rest. Stopping a text job yourself, before it finishes, releases its hold without a charge.

Estimates depend on the model you pick, how much material the job reads, and how much it is expected to write, so the same request can reserve a different amount on a different model or with a longer source. Audio transcription is measured separately, so an audio-to-note job may reserve more than generation from an existing transcript. The AI credits page lists every hold and what it settled to.

Voice in study rooms

Typing in a study room costs credits like any other Copilot turn. Joining voice is optional and metered separately, by the second you are connected, including while you are muted or silent. WorkRoad reserves credits for a bounded voice session when you join and settles them to the time actually used once the session closes and the final usage is confirmed. Ending voice is not free: the time already spent is charged. If the final usage cannot be confirmed straight away, the hold stays until WorkRoad can settle or release it. Text stays available after voice ends.
